St. Petersburg, May 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Tampa Bay Rays are embarrassed with the rants of Avril Lavigne during a concert organized by the team. The team has subsequently issued a statement apologizing to their fans.

The statement said that, “The Rays demand profanity-free performances from all of our concert performers and we are extremely disappointed by the language used in last night’s show. It is not consistent with the family-friendly atmosphere that Tropicana Field is known for.”

During the concert which is part of the team’s summer concert series, Lavigne got some boos and jeers from the fans when her microphone failed to function during her first song. The boos seemed to have changed the mood of the punk-pop singer who pronounced some profanities when she tried to address the fans. Using profanity, Lavigne reminded the fans that it was common during live concerts to experience glitches.

The Rays were not impressed with what Lavigne did and they indicated in the released statement that they do not associate with profanity. Lavigne’s action also drew strong criticism from some parents who attended the event with their children.

The concert took place at the Tropicana Field on Saturday.
