London, Oct 14 (IANS) Actress Hilary Swank regrets attending the birthday celebrations of Chechen Republic’s President Ramzan Kadyrov, insisting she did not have a “full understanding” of the event.
The 37-year-old was amongst the few guests who attended the bash happened in the country’s capital Grozny last week. However, her participation infuriated human rights activists, who accused Kadyrov of brutality and torture against his own people.
Now Swank has apologised for turning up at the party and admits she should never have attended the controversial bash.
“I deeply regret attending this event. If I had a full understanding of what this event was apparently intended to be, I would never have gone,” contactmusic.com quoted Swank as saying.
