S.V. Shekar and director Bala prefer ‘Shawls’ for poor and needy

April 24, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Honoring chief guests and celebrities of every special event in Tamil film industry has seemingly annoyed some of the film personalities. Previously, during the movie launch of Bala’s “Avan Ivan’, the director was honored with a silk shawl as journalists felicitated him for winning National award for “Naan Kadavul’.

Accepting the shawl, Bala had apparently thanked them with an additional note, “This shawl would have been useful if it was donated to a roadside beggar.” In all likelihood, actor-filmmaker-screenwriter S.V. Shekar has come up with the same gesture. Recently, during a film event Shekar openly mentioned that providing such shawls to the poor and needy would be benefited to a greater magnitude.

It’s worth mentioning that around 300-450 shawls are being presented to the chief guests of the film events in a month.
