New York, May 7 (ANI): Canadian actor Keifer Sutherland reportedly headbutted designer Jack McCollough after the latter bumped into actress Brooke Shields and refused to apologize for it.

Sutherland, 42, and Shields, 43, were talking at the bar of a SoHo nightspot around 2 a.m. when McCollough, co-founder of the white-hot Proenza Schouler label, bumped into the actress.

According to the police, Sutherland took offence and demanded the designer apologize to Shields, and then they got into a heated argument that ended with the actor headbutting McCollough.

Witnesses said that McCollough suffered a broken nose in the incident, which occurred at SubMercer, but he told cops that he only got a small cut on his nose.

Investigators from the 1st Precinct have the misdemeanour case now, and are reaching out to Sutherland to get his side of the story.

Shields, who may talk to cops on May 7, is apparently taking McCollough’s side, and her reps have said that the designer did not deserve the headbutt even though she was jostled.

McCollough told investigators that Sutherland “was drunk and obnoxious and wouldn’t back down or be logical.”

A police source quoted McCollough as saying: “(The dustup) wasn’t even over anything . . . he was just roiling drunk and looking for something to smack. It didn’t matter what”.

“When Kiefer gets drunk he gets belligerent. If he was drunk, none of this surprises me. He sticks to water in public but in private he goes right to the booze and gets angry and violent. When he’s drunk, people are afraid to be around him,” the New York Daily News quoted a source close to Sutherland as saying. (ANI)
