Sutherland Assault On Jack McColough: Charges Dropped

Assault charges brought against actor Keifer Sutherland after he allegedly head-butted fashion designer, Jack McColough in May have been dropped. A New York district attorney office spokesman said it would not pursue criminal charges against the star.
Earlier, Keifer Sutherland handed him over to the police after the actor claimed that he had assaulted the fashion designer, John McColough in a Manhattan night club. The Hollywood action hero was stripped off of all the charges as the police officials said that the victim, John McCololough was “uncooperative” during the course of investigation. “We declined to prosecute after a full investigation, including the complaining witness who was quite uncooperative,” said a spokeswoman for District Attorney, Robert Morgenthau. The 42 year old actor was charged with misdemeanor assault in May after he allegedly smashed Jack McColough’s head by ‘head-butting’ him at a So-Ho nightspot, thus breaking the fashion designer’s nose.
According to the sources the head-butt came just after McColough, a trendy Proenza Schouler designer, bumped into actress Brooke Shields and didn’t apologize at the Mercer Hotel at an after-party for a Met Costume Institute Gala.
Recent developments suggest that McColough and Sutherland subsequently released a joint statement stating that they have settled their differences. A spokesman for the Los Angeles City’s Attorney Office said that the alleged altercation between the two were not serious enough to violate the actor’s probation. In a joint statement released on May, Sutherland said that he was sorry about what had happened and that he “sincerely regretted that McColough was injured” during the alleged scuffle.
Keifer Sutherland is currently facing a conviction for a drink and drive case.
