Suspects arrested in DJ Megatron killing case

Staten Island, April 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Staten Island police have arrested two people in connection with the killing of DJ Megatron. It may be recalled that Megratron was gunned down near his home in the early hours of the 27th of March.

NY1 reports that the two men taken into custody are 20-year-old Richard Cromwell and 21-year-old William Williams. The two were on Wednesday charged with second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon, robbery and stolen property. The investigators suspect that the suspects tried to rob Megatron when they shot him.

Police say they arrested Cromwell after a witness identified him as one of the persons seen running from the crime scene. Cromwell later confessed to the police telling them that they intended to rob Megatron when the incident happened.

The 32-year-old was born Corey McGriff. He rose to become a local hero in Staten Island when he promoted local artists when he was a DJ on HOT 97. Megatron made appearances on BET’s “106 & Park”. The network released a statement expressing their condolence to the slain DJ. The statement said that, “He will truly be missed.”

Megatron had a 10-month-old son with Shyleen Robinson whom he got engaged to just before he was killed.
