Susan Boyle is the singer who proved that “American Idol” is not the only podium for aspiring singers. Last week Susan appeared in the reality show “Britain’s Got Talent” and mesmerized the audience and judges with her marvelous vocal. She performed “I Dreamed a Dream”, form Les Miserable and enthralled the audience. The judge’s panel included hard-to-please Simon Cowell of American Idol.

Susan Boyle, a 47 year old contestant, gave her first ever televised performance on 11th April 2009. Immediately after her performance, her viral video circulated in the internet and recorded 2 million views; a number that is still rising. The anonymous life that Susan has led so far has finally ended as she is meeting with the officials of Simon Cowell’s Sony BMG label. Her journey to fame is one of the brilliant examples of the power of online video distribution.

Susan’s life story portrays a sad picture as she led a life full of pain. The 47 year old singer is still unemployed. In 2007 she had lost her mother who was her only motivation to continue singing. Her mother was the last member of her family who passed away at the age of 91 and had inspired her to sing. In 2005 Susan lost both her stepfather and biological father; both of them passed away out of prostrate cancer. After her mother’s demise Susan had abruptly stopped her singing and was nervous for the April 11 performance. Yet she came out smoothly surprising everyone who watched the show.
