London, May 2 (IANS) A fresh-faced and quite attractive Susan Boyle confidently sings a Barbara Streisand track to a room full of football fans. This 1984 video of Britain’s newest singing sensation when she was a talented 22 year old has been unearthed.
The video shows a trim Boyle during a performance filmed at a Scottish football club. The “Britain’s Got Talent” singing sensation, now 47, is shown being invited on to the stage to take part in a singing competition between rival fans, CNN reported.

Boyle chats with the band before they launch into a low-key, lounge-style version of Streisand’s “The Way We Were.” Her hair styled in a classic 1980s perm, Boyle looks at the camera confidently as she moves slowly round the stage singing.

When she finishes, the crowd breaks into rapturous applause and Boyle gets a peck on the cheek from the MC before slipping quietly back to her table in the smoke-tinged room.

The video became public Friday after it was handed to Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper.

Gerry McGuinness, 61, who watched Susan Boyle sing live that night and kept the video, told the Record that he remembered the evening clearly.

“I can remember that she was a shy young girl but also very attractive back then — she turned a few heads when she came into the club.

“Even back then, I don’t think anyone expected too much from her because she was so shy, but when she began singing people took notice.”

The 47-year-old Boyle’s appearance on “Britain’s Got Talent,” where she sang “I Dreamed a Dream” from the musical “Les Miserables,” has now been viewed more than 100 million times on YouTube.

She told the show’s hosts that she had never been kissed and lived alone with her cat in Blackburn, West Lothian, Scotland.

She even appeared on CNN’s “Larry King Live.”
