Suriya: I Would Like My Hindi Films To Release In Tamil As Well

October 30, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): South superstar Suriya of ‘Ghajini’, ‘Kakka Kakka’ and ‘Singham’ fame is all set for a big Bollywood launch in Rakta Charitra 2. Part 1 of the film with Vivek Oberoi as the principal protagonist has been released last week which has made an impression amongst its target audience. Now it is time for Suriya to woo not just his Tamil fans but may also find a new audience base as Rakta Charitra 2 sees a massive all-India release.
Given the fact that there aren’t many movies with a distinct South Indian flavor that have managed to find an audience across the country, one looks forward to how director Ram Gopal Varma and actors Suriya and Vivek Oberoi have managed to create just the perfect blend.
Says Suriya, “Most of the times when I have liked a script, it is something which is universal. Any film for that matter has to be special for me; after all it takes away 100 days of your life and you want them to be enjoyable enough.”
Now with another of his Tamil hit, ‘Kakka Kakka’, being remade in Hindi by Vipul Shah with John Abraham, one can safely state that subjects of Suriya’s films have been finding universal audiences. “Well, I have been lucky enough to get good scripts and good directors in my career. If other film makers are getting inspired to remake my films in Hindi or any other language, I of course do feel flattered”, he says in a humble tone.
He goes on to maintain though that his first love would stay on to be Tamil cinema and if there is anything that he does in Hindi, he would prefer it to be released in Tamil as well.
“Tamil cinema is my base camp and I am not going anywhere away from it. If something good comes in Hindi, I would love to have that film release in Tamil as well. This way, the audience which has loved me for over the years would know that why I opted for a particular subject in Hindi”, smiles Suriya.
‘Rakta Charitra 2′ releases all over on 19th November.
