Super Bowl Winners: Packers & Mini Darth Vader Commercial

Feb 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a Super Bowl which featured Black Eyed Peas and “Boxhead People”, Justin Beiber instead of Ozzy Osbourne, and Joan Rivers as a GoDaddy.com girl, there was not much hope for a truly moving commercial this year as the Green Bay Packers were winning the game.

But two ads for automobiles took the cake, as Eminem and Chrysler teamed up to advertise cars from the gritty scenes of “Motor City” as the rap star drives the new Chrysler 200 sedan and stated, “This is the Motor City and this is what we do.” Detroit is both the home of Eminem and Chrysler, and the ad scored well with many people, being quoted all over the Internet.

But the most adorable Super Bowl commercial was pushing for the sale of another, German made automobile. An adorable “mini Darth Vader” is seen running all over the house as his mother looks on. The child in a Darth Vader suit attempts unsuccessfully to channel “The Force” several times, and looks dejected.

After trying to get the washer and dryer, the dog, and a baby doll to do his will with “The Force” he is almost ready to give up…just as Dad comes home in a new Volkswagon Passat. Dad gets out of the car and tries to hug little Darth, who waves him away…and goes straight for the car. Dad and Mom watch out the window from inside the home.

This time, as little Darth holds his hands out toward the car, a strange thing happens…the car cranks, and the light come on! Little Darth dances with joy as the scene cuts back to the parents, with Dad holding the keychain remote, having just started the car with it. Victory for Darth!! (and for Volkswagon.)
