Los Angeles, Feb 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Nicole Richie, who is a 28 year old socialite, revealed her engagement Monday night on The Late Show with David Letterman. Who is the lucky fella? Well her 30 year old boyfriend, rocker Joel Madden from the band “Good Charlotte” of course!

Apparently, they had been engaged for quite a while, and just decided to reveal it now. “Yep, I’m engaged. Very happy,” Tweeted Madden on Monday. “Yeah we’ve been engaged for a while so your all kind of late on that. But thanks for the hooplah all the same.”

One source shared that Nicole and Joel are busy planning the wedding, and that Nicole is involved with every little detail.” She is very excited!” sources say. Friends of Nicole and Joel say that they they want a simple but elegant ceremony, and they do not want Paris Hilton to show. They only want close friends and family for the very traditional wedding, in which the bride will wear a white dress.

Another friend said,”Both parents want their two beautiful children — daughter Harlow (2) and son Sparrow (5 months) — to be involved in the service where Nicole’s famous father Lionel Richie will give her away. However, old BFF Paris Hilton will not be a bridesmaid.”

Richie and Madden have been an item for four years, but decided it was time to wed after Nicole lost a childhood friend, Casey Johnson. “The awful event made Nicole realize how happy she was being a mother and how happy she will be to finally call herself a wife,” a glowing friend said.
