Sugar Minott dies at the age of 54 years

Los Angeles, July 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Dancehall star - Sugar Minnot has died at the age of 54. He died on Saturday. He was a songwriter and a singer.

Sugar Minnot who is widely regarded as the ‘Godfather’ of dancehall was reportedly killed by a heart problem, though the exact cause of his death has not been known as yet. The singer was recently reported to be suffering from a severe heart disease called Angina Pectoris. After initial examination, he was ordered by his doctors to rest.

Sugar Minnot was the founder of the band “Black Roots” in the 1980’s. The singer released several albums during his career. He is also credited with bringing several artists to the light.

The ace musician was reportedly preparing to bring out his new album called “New Day”.

The Jamaican musician was born in May 25,1956 in Kingston, Jamaica. He was initially part of the African Brothers band before he formed his own “Black Roots” band. He is credited with inventing the dancehall genre of music. He released the albums – Dancehall Showcase, Herbman Hustling, Easy Squeeze, Hidden Treasures amongst others.

His funeral arrangements have not been announced by the family as yet.
