Sue Johnston talks about her tryst with bulimia

London, Aug 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actress and television personality Sue Johnston has revealed that she battled depression and eating disorder secretly for years. The 67-year-old who has received an Order of the British Empire honor from the Queen said she secretly battled bulimia for ten years.

Johnston revealed that her battle with bulimia started at the time that her career was taking off. For the first time in her life, Johnston spoke about her challenges with depression and eating disorder in her autobiography Things I Couldn’t Tell My Mother. The book is currently available on Daily Mirror where it is being serialized.

She revealed in the print that, “I began to eat any old rubbish, shoving it down my neck and then throwing it up again…I was on TV all the time and I hate seeing myself on screen. I became acutely aware of my appearance. So I began making myself sick. I would go to the toilet, stick my fingers down my throat and throw up.”

She however revealed in an interview with the newspaper that she has since overcome the struggle and now taking care of her body properly.

The publication of the autobiography will start from the 1st of September.
