September 9th, 2010 - 6:13 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Panaji, Sep 9 (IANS) There could be good news in store for filmmakers keen on using Goa as a backdrop for their cinematic projects.
Speaking to reporters in Panaji Thursday, chief executive officer of the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) Manoj Srivastava said the state government is studying a proposal which could allow filmmakers shooting in Goa to avail subsidy up to five percent on their shooting budget.
“It is still a draft scheme. It would be a great incentive for filmmakers for using Goa as a shooting destination,” Srivastava said.
Over the last few years, the state government earned Rs.36 lakh revenue from shooting.
“All the filmmakers who have shot in Goa will be asked to submit copies of all the bills of their expenses during shooting in Goa,” said Srivastava, whose ESG jointly co-ordinates the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa along with the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF).
“The bills will include all their expenses including fooding, lodging and others,” the official said, adding that the subsidy would make Goa an even more attractive film shooting destination in India.
