New York, Aug 15 (ANI): American film director Steven Spielberg’s ’80s horror classic ‘Poltergeist’ is headed for a remake as a new feature film.

According to ShockTillYouDrop.com, MGM will remake the classic fright fest, in which a family moves into a new house to the anger of some very old residents, reports the New York Daily News.

The new version of Tobe Hooper’s haunted house blood fest is set to be released on Thanksgiving Weekend 2010.

Writers finished the flick’s script last year when director Vadim Perelman, who also made “House of Sand and Fog”, signed on to the project, but the cast has yet to be determined.

Steven Spielberg wrote the script and screenplay for the original “Poltergeist”, about a family whose daughter is possessed by ghosts.

The original movie received three Oscar nominations for Best Sound Effects Editing, Best Visual Effects and Best Original Score. (ANI)
