Steven Soderbergh in the running to direct “The Man from Uncle”

Los Angeles, Nov 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Hollywood heavyweight Steven Soderbergh who is credited for transforming the fortunes of Ocean’s Eleven from an old abandoned movie into a famous series of movies is expected by many Hollywood experts to be the one to the lead the pack in the remake of The Man From Uncle, a series that was shown in the 1960’s on TV which featured Robert Vaughn and David McCallum starring as global spies Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin respectively.

Reports by Hollywood Reporter indicated that Soderbergh has been offered to become the director of the project, which has been in the pipeline for a long time now. He’s expected to work alongside Scott Z Burns, writer of his movie, The Informant and Contagion.

David Dobkin who has been taking directorial roles until now will be taking over as the movie’s producer. Dobkins originally wanted the movie to be packed with action and comedy buts its unknown if the new director will like to do something different.

Soderbergh has directed movies such as Traffic, Solaris and Girlfriend Experience and his first action-packed movie will be released next year.
