sterling-hayden-actor-and-spyThe movie buffs got an ecstatic chance to revisit one of the legendary actors of world cinema, Sterling Hayden, as Turner Classic Movies (TCM) presented a day of “Sterling Hayden movies” on Saturday, August 22, 2009. The portrayal of the classics in TCM is actually a part of TCM’s “Summer Under The stars”, where every Saturday classic flicks are featured.

Hayden was a star of the 1940’s and 50’s. With a well built stature and a zeal for adventure, Hayden was mostly known to the world as a “masculine” man with adventure pursuits, often playing the role of a cowboy or a military man. The viewers and classic movie buffs got to relish the bygone era once again through the movies that were screened on Saturday, thus once more creating a nostalgic environment in the drawing room. The movies that were shown on Saturday were “Battle Taxi”, “Terror Is A Texas Town”, “Ten Days To Tulara”, “5 Steps To Danger”, “Dr. Strangelove”, “Zero Hour”, “Johny Guitar”, “The Last Command”, “The Asphalt Jungle”, “Manhandled”, “Crime Of Passion”, “The Golden Hawk”, “The Iron Sheriff” and “The Loving”. Sterling Hayden’s flicks were aired on television via Turner Classic Movies, as the movie buffs were reportedly glued to their set to catch on of their favorite stars of all time.

Hayden, initially was a print model who signed with the Paramount Pictures for his debut venture. The Paramount Pictures reportedly tagged Hayden as The Most Beautiful Man in the Movies and The Beautiful Blond Viking God. Ironically Hayden said that sometimes he detested acting and left Hollywood to join the Marines under the pseudonym “John Hamilton”.

The actor/sailor/author took his last breathe in the year 1986.
