New York, Oct 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The name of the woman that has been dragged in to the murky mess of the entire David Letterman sex scandal cum extortion plot episode is Stephanie Birkitt. It is being alleged that the woman with whom the veteran talk show host of the “Late Night With David Letterman” was involved in a relationship is his former assistant on the show.

What is also surprisingly brought to light by the various reports presented in the media, is that Stephanie had reportedly shared her lodging with the accused Robert J. Halderman, which might have laid the grounds for the latter’s attempt at trying to blackmail and extort about $2 million from Letterman, in lieu of keeping mum on the subject of the host’s sexual escapades with his former member of staff.

Stephanie Birkitt is reported to have been featured in many of the skits that had come alive on the late night talk show podium, and have made appearances in front of the audience many as times as either “Vicky,” “Smitty” or “Monty.” At one point in her career, she had also worked on the CBS network true crime series “48 Hours,” coincidentally, the same venture that Halderman is linked with presently.

Now, because of the high profile sex scandal that has cropped up, Stephanie’s name is ceremoniously gaining widespread popularity as being the former paramour for the 62 year old Letterman. Letterman had admitted in front of his viewers about the alleged affair and also revealed the information about the subsequent extortion attempt on Thursday night. Since then, Robert J. Halderman has been arrested on the charges of the blackmail and released on a bail of $200,000.
