London , Dec 29 (ANI): Fashion designer Stella McCartney has been honoured as the Person of the Year by animal rights charity People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, PETA.
The daughter of former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney refuses to use fur or leather in her collections.
“Stella McCartney proves you can have a look that kills without killing,” the Daily Snack quoted Peta’s US senior vice-president Dan Mathews, as saying.
The 36-year-old designer acquired her animal loving instincts from her late mum, Linda.
Stellas hardcore campaigns include challenging British Airways to remove leather seats from their first-class cabins, and launching an anti-fur campaign in online world Second Life in 2007.
“I consider sitting on a poor cow’s skin a throwback to earlier, harder times - not a luxury, she said. (ANI)
