Status Quo rockers Rick Parfitt, Francis Rossi honoured with OBEs

London, Dec 31 (ANI): Status Quo rockers Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi have been conferred with Order of the British Empire (OBEs) for their successful musical career.

Formula One world champion Jenson Button and Brawn GP team owner Ross Brawn have also been recognised in New Year Honours List.

Star Trek actor Patrick Stewart and Scottish rugby international-turned-Lions coach Ian McGeechan were awarded knighthoods, reports the Daily Express.

While Beth Tweddle, Britain’s most successful gymnast, received an MBE, former England football captain Jimmy Armfield was awarded the CBE for his community work in Lancashire.

Claire Taylor, the first woman to be named one of Wisden’s cricketers of the year, and Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts also received MBEs.

OBEs were also awarded to children’s author Dick King-Smith, who wrote the book that became the 1995 film Babe, and health writer and broadcaster Dr Miriam Stoppard. (ANI)
