Star Jones well on the road to recovery

March 23, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Star Jones, lawyer and co-host of ABC weekdays morning talk show, The View, is recovering after she underwent a cardiac surgery last week. This surgery is related to a rarely performed surgery that she had thirty years ago after developing a thoracic tumor.
A representative for the television personality confirmed the procedure. “On Wednesday, March 17th, a pre-planned cardiac surgery was performed on Star Jones,” the statement read. “This recent surgery is a follow-up to the thoracic surgery she had 30 years ago. The procedure was successful and she is recovering well with her family. Star is grateful for everyone’s thoughts and prayers.”
Jones underwent gastric bypass surgery in August of 2003, resulting in a loss of 160 pounds, though she was criticized for not being honest and claiming that she had lost weight via diet and exercise.
In her tweet after the surgery she has thanked all her friends and well wishers and has written that she is “chilling” and getting stronger in the hospital. Her recent cardiac surgery comes just days before her 48th birthday on March 24.
