Stallone announces that ‘Rocky the musical’ is coming soon
November 23rd, 2011 - 7:51 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattHamburg, Nov 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Sylvester Stallone has announced that a musical of the hit boxing drama “Rocky” will be premiered next year in the German city of Hamburg. The project is a collaboration between the Hollywood legend and Ukrainian boxing brothers Vladimir and Vitali Klitschko.
The 65-year-old action superhero made the announcement on Tuesday at the Operettenhaus theatre in Hamburg. The heavyweight boxing champions were with Stallone when he made the announcement.
Vladimir and Vitali, who between them hold the entire heavyweight titles in the world, announced that they will train the actor who will play Rocky in the movie. Stallone said he will also be involved in training the lead actor when he is finally selected.
Rocky was a highly successful movie when it was first released in 1976. It became Oscar-winning movie and grew to become a successful franchise grossing over $1.25 billion.
Stallone said that, “To see this story coming to life on a musical stage makes me proud… I imagine I will be able to help the future star of the show to learn the body language of Rocky and to develop a feeling for the character. Boxers are always tense, always moving around, and each one has his own characteristics.”
The musical will premiere at Hamburg in November 2012.
