Yesteryear actress Sri Devi has accepted to don the role of a mother-in-law, in Dhanush starrer “Maappilai’. As known earlier, the film happens to be a remake of yesteryear Superstar Rajnikanth’s film with same title. Rajashekar directed the original version featuring Rajnikanth, Amala and Sri Vidya in lead roles.
Followed by grand success of “Thalainagaram’, “Maruthamalai’ and recent release “Padikadhavan’, filmmaker Suraaj has joined hands with Dhanush for this remake.
Tollywood’s voluptuous Hansika Motwani will star opposite Dhanush as the female lead, while the sensuous Sri Devi will enact the role of her mom.
Suraaj clearly admits that he wouldn’t be completely copycatting the original version. Only the plot of conflict between an ordinary and rich-arrogant mother-in-law has been lifted, while screenplay will be completely different.
The film will start rolling by end of October and will hit the screens by April 14.
