London, Jan 6 (ANI): American filmmaker Spike Lee has joined the campaign to support United States’ bid to host the soccer World Cup.
Lee, an avowed fan of London club Arsenal, is all set to join the board of the bid committee which is trying to get the football extravaganza to the US in either 2018 or 2022.
Lee will be helping executives at U.S. Soccer to frame a suitable bid before The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) bosses take the decision in December this year.
“Spike Lee owns a distinct creative spirit and unbridled passion for sport and we’re privileged to be able to incorporate his voice into the development of our bid. As a fan of soccer and a father of a youth level player, Spike will provide a unique and invaluable perspective to our board of directors,” the Daily Express quoted Sunil Gulati, Chairman of the USA Bid Committee and President of U.S. Soccer, as saying.
