DreamWorks London, Nov 15 (IANS) Hollywood director Steven Spielberg is to make a biopic on legendary British racing driver James Hunt.

Executives at the director’s DreamWorks studio are said to be keen on “Tormented” star Alex Pettyfer playing the lead, Contactmusic.com said.

“I can confirm there are plans for a James Hunt film,” said a DreamWorks spokesperson.

“Negotiations are at an advanced stage, and a deal is very close. This is a fantastic story about a very charismatic figure and has all the elements of a great film. Hunt was quite a character,” a source said.

Hunt became a Formula One champion in 1976, but was devastated when his pal Ronnie Petersen died during the Italian Grand Prix two years later. Hunt passed away in 1993 after a heart attack.
