Spiderman 4: J.K. Simmons Discloses His Scrapped Character Arc

films that starred actors Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst have come to an end and we shall never witness what director Sam Raimi had in mind for the subsequent editions particularly the 4th one. There were murmurs that actor John Malkovich would be stepping into the role of the villain Vulture but unfortunately Raimi’s reign as the director has come to an end after Sony Pictures threw the project into the burner.
But actor JK Simmons (who essayed the character of Daily Bugle head J. Jonah Jameson) has spoken of the shelved Spiderman 4 revealing some interesting snippets about what Raimi had in his mind. Giving an outline of his character, Simmons spoke to MTV at the Sundance Film Festival.
Simmons discloses that his character J. Jonah Jameson was going to be exiled or demoted or disgraced and end up in a small cubicle and be highly railing against the world. Though Simmons was at the Sundance to promote the drama ‘The Music Never Stops’, the talks soon shifted to the shelved Spiderman 4 and Simmons confessed that he was disheartened to see the end of the franchise.
Simmons revealed that he was gung ho about the next edition of Spiderman and was having creative meetings with Raimi shortly before Sony announced the death of the franchise. Simmons also laments the loss of the hefty check that the subsequent films would have brought him. But more importantly, much like the fans, he is heart-broken now that he would never see the continuation of that franchise. However, the Spiderman series is being rebooted with Marc Webb as the director and Andrew Garfield as the new Spidey.
