July 2 (THAINDIAN NEWS) While people all over the globe have been wondering “Who IS that masked man?” with deep curiosity about their web slinging savior, the identity of the legendary super hero was at long last revealed, on a Thursday night, at a press event held in Cancun, Mexico.

“Though his name may be new to many, those who have seen his work will know this young man embodies an exceedingly rare combination of intelligence, wit and humanity,” Marc Webb, director of the new ‘Spiderman4’ movie said onstage. “Without further ado, meet your new Spider-Man, Andrew Garfield.”

The Los Angeles born actor, Andrew Garfield grew up in England, and will soon step in the red boots and web suit off Spiderman which were previously worn by Tobey McGuire. When he walked out on to the stage in Mexico, his life was changed forever, as he reached new heights of fame.

He is not new to the stage, although he has never worked on a project quite so big. He has worked with such names as Robert Redford, Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep in ‘Lions for Lambs’ and was named by ‘Variety’ as one of the world’s 10 Actors to Watch, Garfield never expected to make it so big. “I’m just lucky to be there working on the same project as them, although I don’t really expect to be recognized later by audiences,” he told Variety at the time.

He was also seen in the film ‘The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus’ in which he played the gangly yet romantic love rival opposite Heath Ledger as they both fought for the love and attention of Lily Cole. Spiderman 4 is set to be in theaters during the summer of 2012, four years after the last film in the Spiderman Series.
