Spider-man Christopher Tierney falls on the Broadway stage
December 22nd, 2010 - 1:02 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew York, Dec 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Playing Spider-Man on Broadway is turning out to be quite an injury-prone affair.
It costed $60 million to produce “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” but that did not prevent a stuntman from plunging from dangerously high level during the show on Monday.
In a scene, a stunt went awfully wrong when actor Christopher Tierney dropped from more than 20 feet up and ended up in a pit under the stage. If not for the speed at which the incident happened, many people would not have known that it was an accident.
Towards the end of the show’s end, Spider-Man was supposed to jump with Mary Jane. Mary Jane managed to stay safe but things went wrong for Spider-Man. He lost control and plunged onto the stage before ending up in the pit under the stage.
Chris was then carried on a stretcher into an ambulance before being rushed to the hospital. The accident ended the night’s show abruptly.
After everything settled, some of the live audience that witnessed the show spoke about the incident.
Matthew Smith who saw what happened said that, “It looked like it was supposed to happen. But he fell at a faster pace. It didn’t look right.”
