Apr 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Fans of the popular television series “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” watched the finale episode of the Season 1 on Friday, Apr 16. The culmination of the first series that featured 38-year-old Andy Whitfield has left the fans wanting for more. However, the fans of “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” will be disappointed to know that the much anticipated Season 2 of the show has been postponed as the lead actor Andy Whitfield was diagnosed with cancer recently. However, after the airing of the last episode, rumors also went on Twitter that the Season 2 of “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” has been canceled owing to the illness of Andy Whitfield, who is under treatment.

In early March, it was reported that the “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” Season 2 shooting had been postponed to accommodate the treatment of Andy Whitfield, who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, a form of cancer that can be cured by treatment. The actor who was under treatment in New Zealand said to a media source that he was being taken good care of and that he is hopeful of returning soon.

Though the news of the postponement of the Season 2 of “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” has been public for some time now, there has been yet no declaration made by the officials of the Starz about the possible date of the airing of the Season 2. Many insiders who are related to “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” in some way or the other have posted the message on social networking websites that the production has not been stopped. The Executive Producer Steven S. DeKnight tweeted recently that the writers are working on the fifth episode of the next season, which according to him has been ordered by Starz.
