Spanish singer to take a break due to exhaustion
February 2nd, 2012 - 11:51 am ICT by IANSLos Angeles, Feb 2 (IANS/EFE) Spanish singer Monica Naranjo wants to take a break from her career to focus her energies on her family and on her next artistic project, which goes beyond music, she said.
Before her much desired vacation, the singer of the popular number “Desatame” will perform this month in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco before wrapping up her tour in March with shows in Mexico City and Guadalajara.
“I’m exhausted,” said Naranjo, who much to her regret said she had had to reduce the number of concerts she will offer in the Americas.
“The tour was going to be much more extensive … Chile, Venezuela, Argentina, but I feel that I’m not going to be 100 percent and to be very honest, I need rest,” the 37-year-old singer told EFE.
Naranjo, who has sold 9 million albums worldwide, confessed that she has come to a point where what she wants is to clear her schedule and be able to “go home” to be with her loved ones.
After her halt in 2012, the singer will continue her television collaborations and she will throw herself professionally into the production of her next work, which she defined as a “literary rock opera” which will be made into a book.
“After each chapter, the person will listen to a song,” Naranjo said, adding that she really likes to explore new environments for her talent.
Naranjo released her first album in 1994, an LP entitled “Monica Naranjo” that she followed in 1997 with “Palabra de Mujer”, which established her internationally.
