South Park creators score a hit on Broadway
March 28th, 2011 - 8:16 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLos Angeles, Mar 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) “The Book of Mormon”-a satirical Broadway of the religious practices of Mormons- opened strongly on the weekend with several critics praising the show.
The musical was dubbed as the best comedy since “The Producers.” The production of the musical took seven years and from the reviews it is receiving, its creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone must be proud for the effort that they put in.
The New York Times was very impressed with the musical and wrote the following about the show, “the ones who say that heaven on Broadway does not exist, that it’s only some myth our ancestors dreamed up, I am here to report that a newborn, old-fashioned, pleasure-giving musical has arrived.”
Parker and Stone are the creators of the hilarious children show “South Park”. They have received several threats previously from religious extremists who sometimes find their work offensive.
That might not be the case this time around though. The musical has so far received several positive reviews for the hilarious nature of the show.
The musical is about a group of Mormons who were on a trip from Utah to Uganda. Most of the rituals of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are mocked in the musical but a statement issued by the church later grossed over it.
