‘South Park’ Creators Compose Broadway Musical Focusing On Mormons

Apr 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) All the fans of the animated series “South Park” now have something to look forward to as the creators of the hit comedy series are all set to write a musical comedy for Broadway, reports have stated. The musical comedy, which would focus on the Mormon religious doctrine, is scheduled to make its Broadway premiere in the month of March next year.
According to reports, the ‘Book of Mormon’ would be directed by Trey Parker as well as ‘Avenue Q’ director Jason Moore while the script has been penned down by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. At the same time, it has also been revealed that apart from the script, the music and lyrics for the comedy musical has also been written by the “South Park” duo in association with the Robert Lopez, who is known to be the co-creator of the musical ‘Avenue Q’. Meanwhile, the ‘South Park’ creator pair have released a statement in which they have revealed details about their latest venture, which has been described as a ‘dream come true’. Moreover, Trey Parker and Matt Stone has further stated that during their growing up years in Colorado, they knew for a fact that the Book of Mormon would indeed make a spectacular musical as many of their friends were Mormons.
The upcoming comedy musical, which would premiere in March 2011, would track the story of two Mormon missionaries who go all the way to Uganda with the aim of spreading the message of the church. Meanwhile, other details of the show such as casting, theater and other information would be revealed later.
