Seoul, Jun 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Popular South Korean actor Park Yong Ha was found dead in his room by his mother on Wednesday. The actor apparently committed suicide which happens to be the latest addition to the string of celebrity suicides which have been a dominant issue in Asia.
Park Yong-ha (33) hanged himself from a cell phone cable back at his home in Seoul when his mother found him in his room. The cops are still clueless about the cause of death. Park Yong Ha who started off his career in the year of 1990 had gained immense popularity with his small screen drama “Winter Sonata” which was appreciated by the viewers of Southeast Asia and Japan. A couple of hours before he committed suicide, Park Yong Ha had messaged his father who happens to be a terminal patient of stomach cancer and he kept saying “Sorry” repetitively. The cops also said that the actor has been suffering from insomnia and used to consume sleeping pills.
Among the 30 nations of Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, South Korea is one state where the number of celebrity suicides is reportedly high. A couple of years back, one of the most sought after actress of South Korea Choi Jin-sil took her life out of sheer frustration. Following her was her brother actor Choi Jin-young who committed suicide in Seoul in the very same manner. Even the ex-President Roh Moo-hyun jumped to death last year after he was hurled with corruption charges. Park Yong-oh of the Doosan Group was the last high profile suicide committed way back in the month of November 2009.
