South is inspiration for Bollywood

April 24, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): After keeping Hollywood as it’s source of inspiration for a long time, Bollywood seems to have now turned Southwards what with one after another remake of movies from the south being dished out setting a the new trend in Bollywood.
While Vipul Shah is currently remaking Tamil film Khaka Khaka with John Abraham and Asin, Boney Kapoor has brought the rights of Telugu film Magadheera. Another Tamil film Vinnaithandi Varuvaayais will probably be remade into a Hindi film by Gotham Menon. Bollywood star Salman Khan may also be seen teaming up with Atul Agnihotri for a Hindi remake of Tamil film Boduguard, with Asin and himself playing the leads.
The reason for this rising southern fever is the outstanding success of Ghajini (remake of Tamil Ghajini) and Wanted(a Hindi remake of Tamil film Pokiri). According to experts the Hindi remakes of hit south Indian movies are gaining popularity since the sensibilities of South films have an appeal for Pan Indian audiences as well and a tried and tested script proves beneficial.
But at the same time a counter trend seems to be developing with news of a couple of Hindi films being made in south which includes a Tamil remake of 3 idiots and also Paa which is being considered.
