Soupy Sales Dies At 83

Oct 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The American actor and comedian, Soupy Sales died at the age of 83 on Thursday night, giving in to cancer. He died at Calvary Hospice at Bronx. Along with cancer he also had other ailments. Sales has a wife named Trudy Carson who was a former Broadway face and also has two sons named Hunt and Tony. They are both musicians and have worked in the band named Tin Machine with the famous David Bowie, Todd Rundgren and Iggy Pop.
Sales was brought in the hospital last week, said his friend Dave Usher. Dave further added, “If President Eisenhower would have walked down the street, no one would have recognized him as much as Soupy. He was just too good to people.”
Sales was born in 1926. He is most famous for his show ‘Lunch With Soupy Sales’. This show was originally named as 12 O’ clock comics. It was basically a show for the kids, which originated in 1953. At the end of the show he used to receive a pie in his face. People started remembering him with this feature. He also appeared on other game shows that aired on TV. He also hosted a show named WNBC-AM in the city of New York. Sales also provided voice for ‘Donkey Kong’ in the animated show Saturday Supercade. This was in 1983. Sales also performed his dance ‘The Mouse’ on the Ed Sullivan Show in the September of 1965. He also made an appearance with the Beatles on the same show. He appeared on the Ed Sullivan show more than a couple of times.
