‘Soul Train’ host Don Cornelius found dead in his house
February 1st, 2012 - 10:35 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattCalifornia, Feb 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) ‘Soul Train’ host and producer Don Cornelius has been found dead in his Californian house. According to TMZ, sources said that in all probability it’s a suicide as his dead body was discovered with a gun shot wound to his head. He was 75 years old.
The police discovered Don’s body in the wee hours of 1st February. They immediately took him to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
He was most famous for his show ‘Soul Train’, and he was also deeply attached to the show in his capacity as a creator, writer, host and producer of the show. Basically the show helped black singers a platform to showcase their talent. Many of the stars who appeared on the show in the early stages of their careers included James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, Ludacris and even Alicia Keys.
Don was the incredible host of the show for more than 2 decades (from 1971 to 1993, to be more precise.) He stepped down from the hosting duties in 1993 and the show continued on, till it wrapped up in 2006.
