Soul Train Awards 2010 Highlights

2010-soul-train-awards-showNov 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The much anticipated Soul Train Awards was aired on BET on November 28. Though the show was taped on November 10, not many were aware of the winners of the show. The awards ceremony also had some stellar performances from the likes of Erykah Badu and Ne-Yo. There were also some surprise winners in the Soul Train awards this year which included Melanie Fiona who overtook the likes of Nicki Minaj and B.O.B for the Best New Artist of 2010.

The award show was held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta and local rapper B.O.B was also in the list of winners. He won the award for his chart-topping smash hit featuring Bruno Mars, ‘Nothin on You’. Eminem bagged an award for his song featuring Rihanna, ‘Love The Way You Lie’. Janelle Monae who missed out on the Best Dance Performance award to Ciara, won the Centric award. The Soul Train Awards this year also honored the legends Anita Baker and Ron Isley for their contribution over the decades with Legend Awards.

The show was hosted by Terrence Howard and Taraji P Henson. Among some of the big winners of the night there was Alicia Keys and Usher who bagged two awards each. Alicia Keys won the award for the Best Female R&B/Soul Artist and also the Soul Train Award for the Record of the Year for her song ‘Unthinkable (I’m Ready)’ that also features Drake. Usher shared the Best Male R&B/Soul Artist with Trey Songz and also the award for the Album of the Year for ‘Raymond vs Raymond’.
