Sopranos star Joseph Gannascoli arrested on DUI charges in Florida
June 20th, 2010 - 11:25 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattFlorida, Jun 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Sopranos star Joseph Gannascoli was arrested on DUI charges in Florida. The Hillsborough County Sheriff officers’ had arrested him on the 18th of June.
According to reports from Tampa Bay Online, a very agile police officer saw that a Dodge was swerving between numerous lanes and had also dislodged a lane marker. Then the officer stopped the car. When the officer went up to the driver of the car, he noticed that the driver was none other than Joseph Gannascoli, and he also seemed drunk.
The officer also noticed that the 51-year-old Joseph was not speaking in a coherent manner, and also boasted of bloodshot and watery eyes. He was asked to take sobriety tests, which he subsequently failed. His blood alcohol level was 0.111, whereas the maximum limit according to the laws of Florida is 0.08. He was arrested and was taken to jail and he was placed under a bond of $500.
Joseph portrayed the character of Vito Spatafore, for around 41 episodes in the hit show Sopranos. Later his character on the show needed to be killed, because the character was gay. The official website of the actor said that the actor was present in Tampa smoke shop – Soho Cigars, as he was promoting his brand of cigars.
