Son of Pink Floyd Guitarist Arrested in London Tuition Protest

Dec 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There have been over two hundred people arrested in the London tuition protests which students and other concerned citizens held over the extreme spike in their tuition cost. In a report from the ‘Guardian’, it would seem that one of those arrested in the Thursday protests was none other than Charlie Gilmore, the son of Pink Floyd guitarist, David Gilmore.
A board approved the sharp rise in tuition, which will more than double most student’s cost for going to school. Because of this rise, tens of thousands of demonstrators drew worldwide attention to the issues, as an all out war raged between students, citizens, and police. The car which was carrying Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla was also attacked. This has, so far, led to over two hundred arrests.
On Sunday, December 12, Charlie Gilmore was one of those arrested when police came to his Sussex home and charged him with suspicion of violent disorder, and attempted criminal damage. The twenty one year old student of Cambridge University was seen swinging from the British Union Jack flag which was on a war memorial.
Charlie later apologized for the “terrible insult”, and stated that he was just “caught up in the moment”. He has been released on bail.
