Socks turn shoes, shirts go topsy-turvy at VHIMW
September 3rd, 2011 - 10:29 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 3 (IANS) It was an experimental journey for designer-duo Ankita and Anjana Bhargav at the Van Heusen India Men’s Week Saturday as they converted socks into shoes and came up with the idea of ?topsy-turvy? shirts - something that can be worn upside down.
Taking inspiration from the classic silhouettes, the mother-daugther duo under their label ANKY highlighted the concept of these multi-dimensional shirts that can be worn on any occasion.
?The line is targeted at youth who like to be casual and chic. Today, most men want to look good and try to be fit. And this is where our line comes in picture. The clothes are wearable, yet playful, fun and smart,? Anjana told IANS.
?The line is meant for the man who has a mind and intelligence of his own and can pull off these garments with a bit of tweaking. Like you can wear these topsy-turvy shirts with cowl neck or just plain down. They can be paired with trousers, shorts or jeans and you are ready to go,? she added.
The line was dominated by earthy tones and fabrics like oragami, Bhagalpur silk, cotton and pashmina.
Simple yet stylish flap trousers, cowl shorts, Jodhpurs, woollen waistcoats and inseam string trousers worn with plain white or a beige shirt dominated the line and the inbuilt scarves in some of the shirts grabbed a lot of eyeballs.
Another interesting aspect of the line was the way socks were used as shoes by just adding laces on top of the socks. Also, the interesting glass frames complimented well with this fun and edgy line.
