Socha Na Tha lands Imtiaz Ali in Police Station!
December 9th, 2009 - 3:33 am ICT by Sampurn Wire ( Leave a comment )They say creativity knows no bounds. Well we are talking about director Imtiaz Ali, who in a brainstorming session during the making of “Socha Na Tha’ almost landed in jail!
Apparently, the story goes that the trio of director Imtiaz Ali, music composer Sandesh Shandilya and lyricist Irshad Kamil were out strolling on the beach and discussing “Socha Na Tha’ amongst themselves. That is when the police mistook the three for miscreants and was ready to throw them behind bars.
Lyricist Irshad Kamil narrates the ill-fated night, when the trio was so caught up discussing the lyrics for Imtiaz’s directorial debut “Socha Na Tha’ that time just seemed to fly by, says Irshad, “We were so engrossed in the discussion, that time just went by and the coffee shop had to close, so, we took the discussion from the coffee shop to the Versova beach which was nearby…”
He goes on to add, “But we were interrupted in the discussion by some policemen who questioned us on our whereabouts, they made us realize that it were late hours and we were not supposed to be on the beach.”
He further adds, “We had no choice but to go to the nearby police station as the policemen were not ready to understand us. Even an association with the film fraternity didn’t work out, but to our relief they soon relieved us.”
“We still laugh over the incident when I, Imtiaz and Sandesh sit over discussion at coffee shop,” he signs off with a chuckle.
