August 10th, 2009 - 6:39 pm ICT by IBNSAug 10 (IBNS) ‘So You Think You Can Dance‘ has received four of the six choreography nominations for this year’s Emmy awards. Though the dancers are front and center, the choreographers are equally important to the success of “So You Think You Can Dance.” This year, the choreographers are again leading the Emmy race for choreography, earning four of the six slots. These nominated numbers were recreated on lat week’s show.
Jeanine Mason, who was named the winner of “So You Think You Can Dance” last night and she could go on to win the award.
While Wade Robson – who won this race last year and in 2007 – is not among the “SYTYCD” crew nominated this year, his 2007 co-winner – Mia Michaels – did land a nod. She choreographed last night’s number “One” from “A Chorus Line.” Also contending from “SYTYCD” are Tyce Diorio who devised the dance for “Brand New Day” last night and Dmitry Chaplin, Tabitha D’umo and Napoleon D’umo who handled “I Know You Want Me” the LA Times blog reported.
“Dancing With the Stars” could manage just one nomination this year with Derek Hough and Julianne Hough in the race for teaching celebrities how to kick up their heels.
Tony Award winner Rob Ashford (”Thoroughly Modern Millie”) rounds out the roster, landing his first Emmy nod for choreographing the Oscars.
