Aug 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) This was the final week for the contestants of So You Think You Can Dance, the week for the last dances, and the week in which the winner of the season would be revealed. Judges Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe were joined by Katie Holmes and Kenny Ortega.

As the performances kicked off, Melanie and Marko took the stage with a disco which was supposed to make the two dancers look like mirror balls. Although both dancers looked a little nervous, they did well. Nigel noted that they looked a bit uncomfortable in the style, and Mary felt it looked like a struggle as well. Katie and Kenny both loved the routine. Melanie also performed a lyrical dance with Robert which was well received by the judges.

Sasha and Mark came for the next performance, which was a contemporary piece which seemed geared to Sasha. Mary screamed and loved Sasha’s intensity and clarity. Katie agreed that it was very powerful and that Sasha was very strong. Nigel reminded everyone that they had called Sasha a warrior from the very beginning, and Kenny noted that with Sasha battling an injury, she was terrific. Sasha also performed a Broadway routine to ‘Whatever Lola Wants’ with Marko, which the judges loved.

Tadd came out to perform a hip hop routine with Joshua..a winner from a former season. Mary noted Tadd’s “sweetie pie” factor, and Nigel felt that Tadd was a bit too sweet. Kenny and Katie both loved the routine. Tadd also performed a cha cha dance which was liked by Katie. Mary and Nigel both felt that the connection was off and it didn’t work. Kenny felt that it was a bit too much for the night.

After a few more dances, including solo dances from each of the contestants, it was time for the fans to vote…. After coming down to a choice between Melanie and Sasha, Melanie wins the title of ‘America’s Favorite Dancer’ with forty seven percent of the overall vote!
