Last night’s “So You Think You Can Dance” was the last chance the dancer’s had to sway America’s votes. The night’s votes would decide who is America’s favorite dancer. Kathryn and Ryan started the night off with a Samba. It was very sensual and exciting. Nigel loved it, and said they were both fantastic. Mary shouted out “Everybody loved it, it was fantastic tonight!” Adam told them that they both did excellent. The second dance of the evening was a Tys Diorio Broadway routine danced by Eleanor and Jakob. It wasn’t one of my favorites, but the judges seemed to like it. Nigel said that Tys had allowed them both to be even more of themselves and showed the pair of them off to their best. Mary told Eleanor that she was smoldering, and sexy as she could be, and that Jakob was flying across the stage. Adam added that they made that Broadway style look even more elegant. Then Ashleigh and Russel came out to perform a lyrical jazz routine. Ashleigh played Russel’s guardian angel, and she was just lovely, glowing. Nigel told Ashleigh to forgive him, but that Russel was so outstanding that he couldn’t take his eyes off him. He said that they had great chemistry. Mary added that Ashleigh was just beautiful, and that Russel was definitely special. Mary’s eyes were full of tears as she shared how much she loved watching Russel this year. Adam thanked Sonya for the beautiful dance that she choreographed. He stated that Ashleigh did a beautiful job of supporting Russel.
Eleanor and Ryan did a Gary Stewart jazz piece next. Very new aged, it was quite awesome. Nigel said it was too techno, and he was uncomfortable with it, that it was too unfeeling, but that they danced it like they were supposed to. Mary stated she could see where Nigel was coming from, but that she loved it because it was new and different. Adam agreed with both of them. Ashleigh and Jakob came back with a Foxtrot. Very elegantly done, she looked gorgeous. Nigel told Ashleigh that she was fantastic! He added the chemistry between them has been outstanding this year! Mary said that Ashleigh did this style beautifully, and that she was just so proud of Jakob. Adam told Ashleigh that she was so lovely, and that their partnership was all about showing each other off.
Eleanor and Russel came out to dance a Tango to the song “Village Attack”. Eleanor was dressed in a long red silk number, and Russel in Black pants. There was fire onscreen behind them, and this dance was smoldering! Nigel said that Russel was passionate and fiery but no where near as passionate and fiery as Eleanor. Mary called Eleanor a little Spanish vixen, and said she really fired it up out there. She screamed that Russel was a fighter tonight. Adam said they were incredible, magnificent!
Kathryn and Jakob came next to the song “What Did You Think”. An extremely emotional dance. Nigel said, “You guys just stopped the show. Kathryn, I start with you, you are my favorite girl and have been for many weeks. You are absolutely stunning. Jakob, you will become an incredible soloist, please join a company you are brilliant.” Mary, in tears, said it was one of the most beautiful dances she had ever seen. Adam said this was a game changer. “You have humbled me, and I am so mad about what you just did I am going to just stop talking.”
Ashleigh and Ryan, the show’s married couple, came out to dance a contemporary piece to the song “I’m There”. It was so beautiful, magical, I held my breath to watch, and it gave me tears, just they way they looked at each other. Nigel said that they did wonderful, and they should be happy with what they’ve done. Mary had tears as well and said it was quite a memory for them. Adam asked how it felt, Ashleigh said “Its perfect” Adam then told them both he was so honored to have shared that moment.
The final couple of the night, with a hip-hop routine, was Kathryn and Russel. It was very cool. Nigel told them that it was the final competitive routine of the season, so he is really happy that he could say “Yes, that was great!” Mary said she had no idea how America was gonna vote but they had her heart. Then she screamed “WooHoo!” Adam stated that Eleanor tore up the dance floor and that Russel killed it!
Out of the thousands of people who tried out for this season’s “So You Think You Can Dance”, tonight’s show will reveal who is the winner out of the remaining six, determined by last night’s votes. Who is my favorite? Well I’m keeping that one to myself.
