This Snow Patrol song, which is a 2006 popular track, scaled the popularity charts and the song was declared to be the most played one by the PPL- which is a music licensing body. The song ‘Chasing Cars’ is a part of the Irish band Snow Patrol’s fourth album, namely ‘Eyes Open.’

The immensely popular number reached the single’s chart of UK and earned the sixth position. It secured its place for a rock solid ninety-four weeks in the top seventy-five slot by means of download sales. The immensely popular Snow Patrol song has been declared as the nation’s most loved and favorite song of the decade. The method by which PPL has taken the decision is based on the frequency with which the song was played on television, radio and in public.

Gary Lightbody, who happens to be the frontman and the lyricist of the band of Snow Patrol, feels that the song ‘Chasing Cars’ has appealed to the audience immensely because people could connect to the emotion that is infused in the song. The success of the song proves that the people of UK have a great penchant for soothing and sentimental rock numbers. The songs which made it to the top fifty slot were mostly released in the previous decade. The old songs have proved that melodies which touch the heart remain in the minds of the music lovers through ages and are never considered redundant.
