London, Jan 31 (ANI): The father of Rubina Ali, the actress who played the role of young Latika in critically acclaimed film Slumdog Millionaire has come out in defence of the movie bosses, insisting that they have done much more than what a parent does.
The relatives of Ali and Azharuddin Ismail, who played young Salim in the film, had accused bosses of paying low wages to the child actors- who received 500 pounds and 1,700 pounds respectively for their work.
However, Rubinas father Rafiq Qureshi has defended the claims insisting that the makers of the film have adequately rewarded his child.
“Whatever a parent could have done, they have done much more than that,” the Daily Express quoted him as saying.
Rubina’’s mother, Munni Qureshi, also agreed her daughter’’s experience had been a positive one.
“I felt very happy that my daughter had become a star,” she added. (ANI)
