New York City, Oct 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) An advice worth noting when you are a TV presenter doing a live interview is to first get your facts right. Embarrassment can cause you misery, if you fail to heed this advice.

That is exactly what happened to Sky News anchor Steve Dixon. Dixon, obviously with no knowledge of Bee Gee Maurice’s death seven years ago, asked his brother Bee Gee Robin Gibb “Is Maurice watching this now?”

A shocked Robin gave the anchor some “current” information when he replied that “No, Maurice died seven years ago.” Dixon was obviously embarrassed but he sought to cover himself up when he said he was confused because there were so “so many” Gibb brothers.

Well that cannot be the excuse because Dixon knew exactly which of the Gibbs he was talking about when he quizzed Robin about Maurice’s affair with Barbara Winsor.

The gaffe occurred on Friday night when Robin was reviewing the Saturday papers. One of the papers carried a story on an alleged revelation by Barbara that she had an affair with Maurice.

Sky stood by their anchor when they issued a statement later saying “These things happen on live TV”

Maurice died at the age of 53 in 2003.
