Sir Tom Jones was once tipped to play James Bond
October 4th, 2010 - 1:01 pm ICT by ANILondon, Oct 4 (ANI): Singer Sir Tom Jones has revealed that producer Cubby Broccoli had once considered him to play James Bond in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
During a radio interview, the 70-year-old star revealed how Broccoli toyed with the idea of casting the popular singer as 007.
“I would have liked to be Bond and at one time it was discussed,” the Sun quoted Jones as saying.
“Cubby said when my name was put forward, ‘Tom Jones is so recognisable as Tom Jones. Would people accept him as Bond? Could they get past him being Tom Jones?’ Apparently that was the problem,” he added. (ANI)
