Sir Michael Caine credits Jack Nicholson with reinvigorating his career
October 11th, 2010 - 12:42 pm ICT by ANILondon, Oct 11 (ANI): Sir Michael Caine has credited Jack Nicholson with reviving his film career, insisting he was ready to give up on acting before working with the Hollywood hellraiser in 1996.
Caine admitted that he had grown disillusioned with the parts he was being offered as he grew older, and was considering leaving the industry altogether.
But after starring with Nicholson in 1996’s ‘Blood and Wine’, Caine admits he began to relish his work again - and threw himself into another two decades of back-to-back film roles.
“I did write a first part of an autobiography when I thought my life was over. Then I did a movie with Jack called Blood and Wine in 1996. Jack and I had been friends for a long time but never worked together,” The Daily Star quoted Caine as telling Sunday Mirror.
“I’d got fed up with making movies. I’d made a few crummy ones and I wasn’t getting any good scripts. Then I worked with Jack and the whole thing was so wonderful. I went back to work and I’ve had another wonderful 20 years of work,” he added.
“Jack is fabulous… love him, because he’s one of the best actors I’ve worked with, one of the best people, and one of the best movie stars, which is an incredibly unique combination because there are some weird movie stars, believe me.” (ANI)
