Sir Ian McKellen may bid adieu to his role in ‘The Hobbit’

movie London, July 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Sir Ian McKellen may quit his role in the movie “The Hobbit”.

Ian Mckellen has enacted the character of Gandalf in the movie. The ace actor revealed that he might be quitting his role in “The Hobbit” to focus on his own work “Waiting For Godot”.

The British actor said he was not under any contract with the production of “The Hobbit”. He said that his time in movies is running out and therefore concentrating on his own work was more important to him now.

Ian Mckellen told a New Zealand TV show that he would make a public announcement about his future concerning the production of the movie “The Hobbit”.

The 71 year old veteran actor said he does not want to give producers the impression that he is waiting for them sitting down. He said he does not want to wait for production to start.

But McKellen was not definite about his future in the movie. The said he might feature in the movie and he might not. He said he was considering several other options.

“The Hobbit” is a prequel to the hit movie “Lord Of The Rings”. If McKellen leaves, it will be the second biggest loss to the movie production after the original director, Guillermo del Toro walked away in June.
